Virtual Listening Session with Local and National Women Focused Organisations on the Asia-Pacific Action Plan 2021 – 2024 for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework

Start Date: Tuesday November 09, 2021

End Date: Tuesday November 09, 2021

Location: Virtual

Asian governments developed two-year Asia Regional Plans for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework through the Asian Ministerial Conferences for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) in 2016 and 2018. The new Action Plan for 2021 – 2024 will be launched in December and aims to accelerate the region’s transformation to risk-informed development, with an emphasised approach on greater resilience.

This regional virtual listening session for women-focused organisations (WFOs) co-organized by the EmPower project and UNDRR, aims to discuss elements of the new Action Plan and the priorities for WFOs. It will provide a platform to discuss enablers and barriers for the gender-responsive achievement of the Sendai Framework at local and national levels, while also facilitating a space to exchange good practices and lessons learnt.

The outcome of the listening session will be an advocacy document that will be shared widely with stakeholders including at the upcoming APMCDRR in 2022, and the Asia-Pacific Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction (APP-DRR) Special Session.
