In Asia and the Pacific region, gender mainstreaming into climate change and disaster risk reduction policies has been initiated by some lead agencies and governments, but still has far to go to comply with the UNFCCC/Paris Agreement, CEDAW and Sendai Framework policies. While both gender and climate change have been focus issues, the mention of both issues at the same place and at the same time is still uncommon. This paper attempts to address the conundrum of “how” to address gender in climate change and disaster risk reduction through describing several tools, some of which are commonly used and others which may be less well known.
